Connecting people with food...One bread at a time
Our journey began in the heart of my home: my kitchen. As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, like many, I felt a profound shift in how I approached daily life. With a deep desire to keep my family safe, healthy, and nourished, I embarked on a culinary adventure unlike any other. In those uncertain times, my dormant culinary curiosity was awakened and fueled by necessity. I embraced the challenge of cooking everything from scratch, exploring cuisines from around the world—from Sushi to Thai to Korean dishes. With access to fresh, organic produce from a local CSA, fresh fish shipped frozen from Alaska to my doorstep, and the convenience of online shopping for exotic ingredients, my kitchen became a place of endless possibilities. As I experimented and honed my skills, my daughter, intrigued by the flavors and techniques, eagerly joined me as my sous chef. Together, we transformed our kitchen into a playground of creativity and exploration.Looking back, I'm grateful for how the pandemic ignited a passion for cooking, baking, and culinary exploration within me. And now, I'm thrilled to share that passion with others. From our home kitchen to yours, I invite you to join us at The Tangy Loaf—a place where flavor, tradition, and the simple pleasure of sharing good food with good company come together. Come learn with us, bring your children or your friends, and let's get cooking and have fun together!
Our kitchen is our playground. Our hands-on workshops not only include sourdough and arepa making, but we also have lessons tailored for the kids. As a mother myself, I believe that teaching children how to cook early on is an unvaluable skill. The Mini Chef's Cooking Series blend fun with STEM-focused learning. Come explore, create, and indulge in the delicious world of food with us!
Locations: Clarke University Food Lab & Peosta Community Centre
